Delta Kicks Family off Plane
Airlines overbook planes all the time, most airlines make up for the overbooking with compensation. Airplanes always overbook flights, it’s no secret that they want the plane full. Staff are a huge impact on telling people to get off the flight, and how they approach the situation is a big key to how the people will act getting off the plane. The stewardess is not always to blame for behavior given to people on the overbooked flights. The pilot has too much power sometimes, and can kick anyone off the plane that they desire.
A family boarded a plane to only be kicked off because they were overbooked by one seat. The family sent their teen son ahead on another flight in order to accommodate for their two year old to have its own seat. The staff then told the family that they would have to put the two year old on their lap. The father was arguing back claiming many times that it was not fair. He bought the seat, and was not going to give it up. The staff and everyone on the plane then had enough of hearing them complain, so the family was then told to get off the plane.
After a bunch of back and forth, the father finally caved and asked if he could put the two year old on his lap. When she asked the pilot, the pilot kicked them off anyways. The father then asked what they were supposed to do. The flight attendant, snobbishly, stated that is was not her, or the company’s, problem. Delta then shut down their media for the day and tried to reach out to apologize to the family.
