Government Requires Flint Residents to Pay Water Bills Again

During the entirety of the Flint Water crisis up until this point, citizens of Flint have been excused from their water bills. Recently, a water-test has read that the water supply in Flint is up to federal standard, so Flint can charge for water again. Although this may sound like the crisis is over, the water cannot be consumed safely, and needs a high-tech filter. This has caused many protests, with protesters arguing that they are paying for poisoned water.

According to Newser, Flint has one of the highest water bills in the nation, so you can imagine residents are not happy about paying this. Because of these tests, the Flint Water Crisis is no longer considered a federal emergency, which means Michigan and Flint will have to figure out how to optimize the use of filters. It would cost a ton of money to provide each home with a filter, so solutions must be found.

Although the water is getting better as shown by this new test, Flint residents will have to wait until the pipes are replaced to consume their water plainly, which may take a while. As a Michigan school, we can show them our support. You got this, Flint!
