Watch Out, Fans of Arby’s!

If you eat Arby’s often, or for that matter have eaten it at all this year, you may want to take a look at your bank account. According to a security check, there has been a massive Security Breach which has allowed hackers to get bank account information from customers at hundreds, if not thousands of Arby’s restaurants. The chain restaurant has confirmed that around 355,000 customers are at risk.

However, the part that is bothering a lot of people is that Arby’s knew about the hacking in mid-January according to delish.com, but waited until the FBI contacted them more thoroughly before telling the public. (The ones who the problem is actually affecting.)

The company has been taking many actions to fix this, and many precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen again. They are getting better security for the financial system, and are fixing the malware.

Although the problem is being fixed, keep an eye on your credit card to make sure you’re not getting scammed. Any suspicious action could be the hackers, so be on the lookout. The problem may have started as early as December.

A similar issue happened one year ago, when another food chain, Wendy’s announced a security breach in January, 2016. There’s no evidence that the two are connected, but it is suspicious that these issues happened around a year apart. There were 1,025 stores affected by that problem, and over time the issue got worse. Hopefully, that won’t be the case with Arby’s.

We’ll see next year if another chain is affected. Maybe you’ll hear in the news that McDonald’s or Burger King will have a security breach.
