Administration Spotlight: Laura VanWormer

Ms. VanWormer is always a pretty busy person who has no time to spare. You probably see her everywhere around the school. In her free time we sat down with her and asked her a few questions. Her favorite part of JPEC is how different the school is. She loves bringing in technology and new ideas into JPEC every day. Her favorite part of her job is developing and designing new programs that will work for the school. Her school program was not personal to her, and wanted to change that. She wants to make sure education is personal for every single one of her students. Social studies is not everyone’s favorite subject, but it is for Ms. VanWormer. She has a minor is social studies. She used to teach social studies before Mr. Schaeffer came.

What would she be doing if she wasn’t at JPEC? She would love to be a lawyer. She is very interested in the field of Constitutional Law, which would be her number one pick! Ms. Vanwormer is very crafty. She loves to paint and draw. She also loves going to Goodwill to find furniture to repurpose and make it look like a million bucks! We all know that Ms. VanWormer’s Job is very stressful! Scheduling, student behavior, and still being the middle school Dean! We asked her what is the most stressful part of her job, and the answer we got was not anything like what we expected. She said the most stressful part is making sure that she follows up and does not forget about her students. The choices that are made might bring a negative impact on a student. She wants to make sure that she can do everything she can to help her students be the best that they can be.
