Two of JPEC’S own, Katelyn Gragg and Faith Kimpell, were accepted into a band performance at Western University on April 14th. The two Early College students both auditioned for a spot into the famous composer Frank Ticheli’s Allstar Band. According to Katelyn Gragg, a clarinet player, the composer only took “the top 120 band members in the state.” Both of the girls agreed they were very proud of themselves for making it into such a prestigious con- cert. They both believed the experience was amazing, and Faith stated that Mr. Ticheli was very “chill.” Andrea Ortell, the band director, had quite a lot to say. “I was extremely proud that out of the entire state of Michigan, they got chosen. Students at bigger schools got chosen as well, but I was extremely proud that our two students got chosen. They rehearsed a lot and handled the pressure well.” Many can agree that all of JPEC is proud for our two talented falcons!
